Healthy Dragons uses dragon boat racing as a hook to teach urban middle school students about healthy active lifestyles and cooperation skills. It was founded in 2008 and works with over 50 students each year from Lingelbach Elementary, C.W. Henry Elementary, Bethune Elementary, Mifflin Elementary, and Furness High School.

The program is a partnership between the Philadelphia Flying Phoenix Dragon Boat Team and the School District of Philadelphia. Healthy Dragons is supported by the Preston Davis Foundation, Agnes Irwin School Girls Grant Making Club, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Green Tree Community Foundation.
